Rice crispy treat : )

ive been so hungry lately.
is this "liver stagnation"? "spleen emptiness"?
whatever it is, i just need to eat all day long!

and i made this quick treat.
brown rice puff, roasted seeds, peanut butter, almond butter, miso, sea salt, and brown rice syrup.
turned out really nice and fullfilling!

summer-like days

last several days, new york has been so warm.
naturally, my body craves some "cooling" food.
so i made this tofu/hijiki/arugula salad.
dressing i made was soy-ginger-sesame.
mixed with pressed radish and roasted pumpkin seed, it was very refreshing, and yum!

cats paradise

back to key west.
lots of cats hanging around!
these live inside Hemingway's house.
have you ever seen 6 toed cats?

macrobiotic plate

even in miami, yes, i crave macro plate lunch.
brown rice with hijiki, miso soup, sauted mustard green with tofu and tomato salad.
feeling good now : )

florida stone crab

sure you can eat at joe's stone crab, if you can afford.
but guess what?
they have take out place!
so we got stone crab, and made some dishes, got some wines, and ate at the patio in the hotel.
much nicer and yes, more affordable!!
salad was my favorite, even if i say so myself.
watercress, steamed carrot, florida tomato, avocado, with simple dressing. yum!
the other dish is whole wheat pasta with mushroom and zucchini : )

more home cooking, south beach

thank god, there is a whole foods store in south beach, and they sell wines, too!
so this time all organic, some are local (yes, florida heirloom tomatoes!!)
and the kitchen in the hotel has a gas stove : )

and tables in outside patio.
what else you wish?

home cooking

this time, both in key west and south beach, we stayed at a hotel with kitchen.
so mainly ate home cooking, with nice wines!
brown rice & hijiki risotto
mixed green and avocado salad
there was some nice bakery in key west, too. so we got some nice freshly baked whole wheat bread : )

Help Yourself

who said that you can't have healthy meal in key west?
try this health food care, Help Yourself
using organic, whole foods(no refined), mostly vegetarian and vegan(some organic eggs, cheese and fish, too), it's such a great to place to stop by for lunch or snack.
they have organic juice bar, too.
try it out!

Key West!

my first trip to Key West!
the weather was great! and oh, i had a great time...

real rice cream

using real cooked brown rice, i made a rice cream.
other ingredients are rice milk, brown rice syrup and maple syrup.
but rice milk is a bit too watery for this....
maybe ill use other thicker milk, maybe coconut milk?
anyway, the texture of rice is really good : )

farmer's market

now half way into May, union square farmer's market, my favorite place in new york, is in full bloom!

asparagus is in season, of course.
more greens, such as ramps, green onions, chives, garlic chives, broccoli rabes, bok choy, collard and kales, even some arugula!
for flowers, tulips and hyacinth gave way to lilacs, iris, and

every week, something new!!

and my lunch on saturday is here.
baked asparagus
sauted onion, ramps and tempe
miso soup with bok choy and clams(also from the market!)
and mixed rice.
